Research and Markets: Cisco's Rising Market Share in Taiwan has Compressed the Shipments of other Brand-Name Vendors in 3Q 2004

(PRWEB) January 7, 2005 -- Although back-to-school demand boosted sales for retail brands in the third quarter, Cisco's rising market share compressed the shipments of other brand-name vendors. With channel players lowering their inventory levels as well, Taiwanese switch shipments fell for the first time in the third quarter of 2004. In the third quarter, the shipment share held by Gigabit switches stood flat, while that of layer 3 switches edged up due to strong market demand. Both shipment value and ASP were thus unaffected by shipment volume shrinkage, posting slight growth in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, shipments are expected to increase steadily. As only flat demand is expected from brand-name vendors, a mild growth momentum is projected to come from the holiday sales demand from retail brands.
