The United States has issued a requirement to 27 countries to implement biometric passports by October 2005 to remain eligible to travel into our country without visas. Standards will drive this market forward. Biometrics involves measuring the human body and is used to validate a persons identity from a database of thousands or millions in what is referred to as a "one-to-many" application.

Cogent provides Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems that governments, law enforcement agencies, and other organizations use to capture, analyze, and compare fingerprints. Mr. Hollowich is responsible for managing Cogents operations in support of both new systems development and deployment as well as in support of existing Cogent systems worldwide.
Mr. Jasinski is responsible for managing Cogents Washington DC office and has primary responsibility for the delivery and support of systems at the State and Federal level. Mr. Jasinski joined Cogent after a career with the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation. At the FBI, he served as the program manager for the implementation of the FBI Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS). Mr. Jasinski worked with the implementation of the National Criminal Information Center 2000 (NCIC 2000). He was Chairman of the Interpol Automated Fingerprint Identification System Working Committee and worked to ensure worldwide AFIS interconnectivity based upon ANSI/NIST standards.
