Innovative Conference to Assemble Florida Technology and Government Leaders

FGCU will host leading conference that will focus on statewide information technology resource-sharing, disaster preparation

Fort Myers, FL (PRWEB) January 6, 2005 -- Organizers for Floridas fastest-growing government technology conference announced today that the 2005 edition of the Florida Court Automation and Government Technology Congress, or CAT Congress 2005, will be held April 28-29 at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers.

The two-day event, will bring together policy makers, information technology specialists, court personnel and technology leaders from all 67 Florida counties, and will address government technology needs and serve as a platform to share solutions and expertise.

The 2005 edition of the event is particularly important as focus will be given to the lessons learned of how technology helped Florida government agencies continue in the face of three hard-hitting hurricanes and a divisive national presidential election.

The event is the only conference of its kind focused on the government, technology, and public policy issues specific to the state of Florida.

Conference participants will hear more than 28 speakers and will discuss technology issues in hands-on working sessions. The agenda is developed around the challenges and obstacles facing Florida government including technology stewardship, information and resource-sharing, disaster planning and recovery, and statewide digital standardization. The conference goal is to create a platform where Florida government agencies can work together to effectively and securely implement e-Government, while exceeding public expectations.

"If you work in Florida government and have an interest in e-Government, then CAT Congress will be a valuable learning opportunity," said Christopher Stammer, a conference advisor who has worked with the Charlotte County government in Florida. "This conference will be a unique and valuable opportunity that will tackle issues facing government at every level from disaster recovery to effectively managing an information technology department."

The event mission and goal has already won praise from several Florida technology leaders who have been advocates of e-Government in the Sunshine State.

Ramin Kouzehkanani, the chief information officer for the city of Sarasota noted that CAT Congress will tackle 'issues that are needed for the successful implementation of e-Government like process thinking, business processes, and drive from the top'.

CAT Congress 2005 organizers expect more than 350 city, county, and state government leaders to attend the conference.
