Julian and Ben replied to a houseboy ad and are now living in Tenerife. Becoming houseboys has allowed them time to pursue their interests. A frustrated artist, BenÂs now the writing his own music. JulianÂs indulging his interest in wellbeing and fitness. Their 2 year stint as houseboys has given them time and space to think about their careers ahead.
Although the average age is between 18 and 35, thereÂs certainly no limit. Both now in their 40Âs, Gary and Steve retired early from their own business to become resident houseboys at a gay resort in Greece. Seeking what they describe as, "a definite lifestyle change," the couple responded to an ad online.
Their role is to care take a private beachside resort and manage twelve rental units. Gary and Steve, who have been partners for ten years, were able to provide the owner with references from family, friends, and business associates.
They insist theyÂve had not had time to miss being homeowners and say "It's great to have someone else pay for problems that need fixing" Steve also comments, "ItÂs special here because we have fun with our guests. WeÂre constantly invited for parties, dinners and day trips to the Islands.Â
The couple says their lifestyle has definitely changed for the better as they have now time to pursue their true passions. Gary admits, "WeÂre happy we made this radical and drastic choice at this time in our lives, and hope to continue this lifestyle well into the future."
