Non-woven synthetic medias, relatively new to the US market, have been used with tremendous success in Europe for decades. Efficiency values, i.e., measured value of clean air downstream of the filter, is only one of the important criteria for Gas Turbine filters. Initial and average resistances as much as 75% lower than standard OEM medias have been measure in fiels installations. This reduction in resistance has a direct relation to increased power output and in many cases, reduced fuel consumption. With natural gas prices going skyward, any way to reduce 'heat rate' is noted as a success.
