Mr. Lee believes companies have been focused primarily on financial management, cutting costs -- on bare-bone management." Now, "instead of a focus on cutting cost, it's growing revenue. (PRWEB) January 12, 2005 -- An in-depth interview with Tony Lee, Editor In Chief and General Manager of the Wall Street Journal Online Network, is now available on www.landed.fm. The website, launched last November, sponsored by Deloitte & Touche LLP, provides an innovative on-demand Internet radio service, focused on career success for professionals.
In the interview, Mr. Lee, (whose responsibilities include CareerJournal, StartupJournal and other Wall Street Journal online properties), was asked to give his assessment for the employment outlook in 2005 for managers and executives. "I think everybody is pretty optimistic, a lot more optimistic than they have been in some time," he said. "We've gone through about four years of an unhappy, uneven job market; I don't think we're seeing a massive recovery, but it's definitely stronger than it was this time last year, and dramatically stronger than it was two years ago." In his response to the question, "who is hiring?" he said, "the types of companies that are seeing the most activity right now are very small companies, and that's been a trend for a little while. We see a lot more activity with companies with 100 employees or less, who are looking for the one key contributor, or two key contributors, and that doesn't seem like many jobs, but when you have thousands and thousands of small companies all looking for the one key contributor, a lot of opportunity gets created."
