Artists Find Spiritual Collaboration
Poetic Intercessions, is the collaboration of two artists living so far apart presents beautiful music to mystical poetry. The manner in which they met is no less than miraculous.
(PRWEB) January 14, 2005 -- Their music and style is very different. The themes of the poems range from an unborn child to a man dying in the electric chair to the beauty of creation on a placid sea. Poet, Dolores Thompson lives in the south, central mountains of New Mexico. Composer, Karsten Klemme lives in Salzbergen, Germany. Their music and poems are exchanged totally through the means of the internet.
In September of 2003, a novena was said by Dolores (a nine-day prayer) in honor of St. Michael the Archangel for direction regarding her poetry in which she had been writing since the 1970s. Having recently learned about the Catholic Music Association, she emailed CMA searching for someone who might be interested in putting music to her poetry.
Karsten, a recent convert to the Catholic Church, had been experimenting with recorded bible passages underplayed them with a kind of unobtrusive and soothing music he had composed. He produced several CDs. He had a broadband internet connection and started to upload and share MP3s on the web. On September 29, 2003, the Feast Day of the Archangels, Karsten responded to her email. He was so gracious and eager to hear her poems. She emailed him two or three of her poems. Karsten remarked, When I read Doloress poems I suddenly 'heard new music inside of me". That was the beginning of Poetic Intercessions. They now have fifty songs in preparation for future CDs. Their style of music is contemplative and mystical.
The collaboration of these two artists is a remarkable story. An invitation is extended to read the poems and listen to a short introduction of the music.
