White Noise: More Fact than Fiction
After coming back from death at the hands of a serial rapist, former Insurance superstar Sandi Athey re-entered the world with a new set of skills. When asked about her near-death experience during a brutal attack by the Rte 29 Corridor Rapist, Sandi recalls the event with remarkable clarity. "One moment I was fighting him off (Joseph Kirk) and the next I remember thinking, 'Oh wow, I'm dead'. I felt exactly the same as I always did, except I had no body. It felt wonderful and free. But as I saw my lifeless body and watched my assailant strangling me; I knew he had not meant to kill me. I later learned his attacks had become increasingly violent and he was believed to have assaulted over 50 women in a two and half year period of time. Even though he was wearing stocking mask From the other side, I saw his face, .", states Athey. "I heard God say, 'You must go back, you have work to do' So I went back into my body and started fighting for my life."
When asked about the occurrence of "White Noise", a phenomena known as communication through electronic devices as depicted in the recently released movie of the same name starring Michael Keaton, Sandi acknowledges it is something she deals with frequently. "Imagine if you will, that if you use the telephone, fax machine, cell phones and email to communicate, and you don't feel any different after death than in life, you would still try to reach your loved ones anyway you can. Thus we have noise in the static, an unexpected chill in the room or a visit in a dream."
