Grand Rapids, MI (PRWEB) January 15, 2005 -- The Association of Theological Booksellers (ATB) named Brazos Press Publisher of the Year at their annual meeting, which was held in November in conjunction with the AAR/SBL annual meetings in San Antonio, TX.

The ATB is a cooperative organization of more than five hundred North American seminary and divinity school bookstores and theological publishers, working together to enhance the quality and secure the future of theological bookselling.

Brazos Press, established in 1999, is a publisher rooted in classical, creedal, and confessional Christianity. The Press specializes in theology, biblical studies, and cultural criticism.

Dwight Baker, president of Baker Publishing Group--the parent organization of Brazos Press--said, "This award is an honor. Brazos Press is making a significant contribution to theological and cultural engagement." Rodney Clapp, editorial director of Brazos Press, said, "Were grateful for this recognition from astute booksellers. It energizes us for the challenge of serious theological publishing in these tumultuous and distracted times."

Recent releases from Brazos Press include Lying: An Augustinian Theology of Duplicity, by Paul J. Griffiths; Defending Human Dignity: John Paul II and Political Realism, by Derek Jeffreys; Anxious about Empire: Theological Essays on the New Global Realities, edited by Wes Avram; and Improvisation: The Drama of Christian Ethics, by Samuel Wells.
