New Ways to Decorate a Baby Nursery
New and expecting moms are decorating nurseries with unique things such as large murals, vintage pieces, alphabet cards, and even their own baby's outfits.
(PRWEB) January 18, 2005 -- Think outside the frame. New and expecting moms are taking a new approach to decorating their babies nurseries.
In addition to traditional framed prints, the walls of a babys room may now feature murals, vintage pieces, alphabet cards and even babys cutest outfits. Themes are still a big hit, but cute is winning out over cutesy. Young moms have a new sense of style and it is being reflected in their babies nursery décor.
Nurseries are becoming more hip as moms move beyond pink and blue bunnies. Many new parents choose to have a mural painted on one nursery wall as a focal point. Using an overhead projector and a favorite childrens book, parents can create beautiful décor for their little ones.
Other parents choose to decorate with vintage baby items ranging from old toys, silver rattles, wooden blocks and old childrens books.
A popular new way to decorate is to line up large alphabet cards on a strip of molding around the room. These cute and colorful cards will be useful through early grade school. Many parents appreciate not having to completely redecorate their childrens rooms as they grow.
Another option is to use the babys clothing to decorate the wall. Often favorite outfits are expensive and beautiful, but too nice to wear more than once or twice. Hanging those outfits on cute baby hangers on the wall can be an adorable addition to the nursery. The hangers can be hung from wall pegs, peg racks, decorative knobs or ribbons. The babys outfits can be changed easily as she grows.
Kari Edmonds of Spunky Turtle fell in love with vintage painted wooden baby hangers, but worried about the lead paint content. She now hand decorates her own baby hangers using nontoxic paints, inks and finishes. A new mom herself, she knows how difficult it can be to find cute and unique items for a babys room. Her designs include a range of fun styles for new moms with an eye for the unusual.
Parents have more freedom than ever to decorate their babies nurseries to suit their own style. Traditional themes that are still popular include: animals, sports, cowboys, favorite storybook characters, and monochromatic décor (everything pink or everything blue). Some other hip moms are choosing funky colors, designer fabrics, retro-style or vintage items, and unique items with large impact such as round cribs or wall-size murals.
Whatever your style, you are sure to create a beautiful nursery with a little planning and a sense of fun!
