Disaster Recovery Plan Launched to Help Florida Firms Survive the 2005 Hurricane Season

Disaster Recovery Plan launched to help small businesses survive disasters (man made and natural)and still conduct business when communications are down

(PRWEB) January 19, 2005 -- A Central Florida company has launched a Disaster Recovery Plan to enable Florida firms to carry on business during hurricanes and other disasters even when power lines and phones are down.

The four hurricanes that swept through the state in 2004, the worst hurricane season on record, caused $42 billion in damage but the true cost to Florida businesses may never be known, says Paul Daigle, President of Orlando-based Bytes, Bits & Megabytes. Thousands of firms were without power and phones for many days and it is impossible to know how much business they lost through lost orders and missed communications," he says. With the experience of the last hurricane season behind us and an above average season forecast for 2005, businesses should now be taking the appropriate steps to protect themselves," says Daigle.

The Disaster Recovery Program can be activated at a moments notice and allows businesses to forward their telephone numbers from their local suppliers to OfficeBytes secure, automated and computerized customized answering system. The program was tested during Hurricane Frances and exceeded our expectations;" said Daigle. Physicians were able to respond to their patients even when their power was down and service industry customers were able to carry on with very little interruption."

Incoming calls are answered by OfficeByte and then routed to pre-determined locations anywhere via home, cell, satellite or Internet phones. Voice messages can be forwarded to pagers or delivered as emails. Apart from allowing businesses to carry on as near normally as possible, the Disaster Recovery Plan allows employees to check in for important messages. Above all, it maintains the two way communications between company and client whatever the emergency," he says.

Bytes, Bits & Megabytes, was founded in 1984, and is now one of Central Floridas leading specialist telephony services providers for small and medium sized businesses.
