The One Academy, Malaysia - Creative Talents Win Cash & Scholarships at The World Peace & Friendship Creative Award
Over the weekend of 18 and 19 Dec 2004, young talents aged from 5 to 19 have shown their creativity by spreading the message of peace and friendship through art in an art competition held by The One Academy and partners. One 17-year-old even walked home with a scholarship worth RM50,000.
(PRWEB) January 16, 2005 -- At the two-day The World Peace & Friendship Creative Awards 2004 competition at the Malaysia International Exhibition and Convention Centre here attracted almost 500 participants from across the country, but the apparent two biggest winners were Chau Meng Fatt, 17, and Boon Yik Chung, 12.
Chau won Best of the Best Creative Award title and went home with a scholarship worth RM50,000 from The One Academy, together with RM300 cash, a trophy and a certificate. Meanwhile, Boon won the Best of the Best Young Da Vinci Award and walked away with RM300 cash plus a trophy and a certificate.
The competition was jointly organised by The One Academy, Sin Chew Daily, Mines Exhibition Management and Kesatuan Kebangsaan Guru-guru Besar Malaysia. The competitions official media is Parenthink, and is sponsored by The Learning Mind, supported by Da Vinci Arts & Crafts Creative Development Centre, and The One Art Club.
In his speech, Tan Chin Wee, The One Academys Marketing Manager and Master Trainer of Da Vinci called on the talented to nurture and develop their creativity.
Whether you win a prize today or not, your passion in art can be nurtured into a practical advantage in life. Dont let it go to waste. Get the right training, make full use of it to create a future for yourself, and eventually, improve the lives of others around you for a better world," he said.
The competition aimed to instil awareness on the spirit of universal friendship and understanding among the younger generation through art. However, the overwhelming response and standard of art gave the jury a tough time during the judging -- they were especially impressed with the skills and concept of the top winners artworks.
The winning work has a baby in a peaceful slumber blanketed by familiar items of bedroom, yet these items have elements that represent hope, world peace and friendship," said Boon. Incidentally, she was also the first prize winner in the age 9-12 category.
My artwork has symbolisms such as olives, doves and the innocence of a child to bring forth the message of peace and friendship," said Chow, who also won the second prize in the age 16-19 category.
With his RM50,000 worth of scholarship from his Best of the Best Creative Award, this lad from SMK Chi Wen, Negeri Sembilan, would be able to continue his studies at The One Academy after completing his form five education.
