Wholesale Chess Buys Assets of Closing Shamrock Intl

Wholesale Chess opens up a new line of top-end chess sets and products after purchasing assets of international importer of hand-carved chess pieces.

(PRWEB) January 17, 2005 -- On December 31st, 2004, Wholesale Chess Equipment, LLC, a premier online chess store, bought the entire remaining chess inventory of Shamrock International, Inc as it permanently closed its chess business. Shamrock Intl was a direct importer of fine wooden chess sets and games from top-quality international manufacturers and sold primarily to retail oulets and gift shops. Wholesale Chess is an online retailer and wholesaler of chess equipment and has become the #1 choice for schools, chess clubs, and tournament chess players looking for sets and equipment. "We want to continue to support the scholastic and tournament parts of our business while reaching out to customers who want to spend a little more for beautifully hand-carved chess pieces and boards," says owner Erik Allebest.

While most chess sets in homes across America are small, cheap, hollow plastic pieces and paper boards, serious chess enthusiasts insist on playing chess on wood or vinyl chessboard with 2" to 2 1/4" squares and solid chess pieces from 3" to 4" tall. For years Wholesale Chess has sold its budget chess sets made from solid plastic and quality rollup vinyl to hundreds of clubs and schools around the country. In 2005 Wholesale Chess will roll out its new line of wooden chess sets and pieces under the name "Superior Chess". These new chess sets will be featured here: http://www.wholesalechess.com/store/wood
