Church Sponsors 5th Annual Atlanta Black Family History Day
In honor of Black History Month, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) will once again be holding its annual Atlanta-area Black Family History Day (BFHD).
(PRWEB) January 22, 2005 -- In honor of Black History Month, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) will once again be holding its annual Atlanta-area Black Family History Day (BFHD).
This years event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 26 at the LDS Churchs Roswell Stake Center, located at 500 Norcross St. in Roswell. Admission for the 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. event, which will conclude with a light lunch, is free.
The keynote speaker for this years BFHD, and one of the events honorees, is WSB-TV news anchor Monica Kauffman, who will be discussing her trip to Sierra Leone is pursuit of her own family history. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will also be honored.
The 2005 event marks the fifth year that the Atlanta-area LDS Church has held a special event to honor Black Family History. Previous events have included: the release of the African-American genealogical research tool, the Freedman Bank Records, on CD-ROM; guest lectures on African-American Genealogical research; and a Leadership Symposium. This years event will feature three instructional genealogical seminars. On-line registration and additional information for the event is available at www.atlanta-bfhd.org.
Black Family History Day is designed to bring together leaders of the African American community to share with each other, and to learn how to make black family history a greater part of who they are and what they do.
