San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) January 20, 2005 -- Baxter Chang Patri Fine Art presents Geographies", featuring new paintings by the British-born artist Jeremy Morgan. Morgan paints in vivid colors and abstracted detail which evoke expanses of air, sky and the elemental processes of nature.

Jeremy Morgans sources are various; he is inspired by European, British and American landscape traditions, his travels within the US and to Europe and Asia, and aspects of Abstract Expressionism. The artist merges romantic landscape concepts with a process of improvisation and abstraction. His canvasses are constructed with multiple layers which creates for the viewer a sense of immersion.

Morgans travels in China and Nepal have allowed him to consider philosophical and spiritual aesthetics along with spatial concepts central to some Asian sensibilities. He is further interested in exploring how these sensibilities can be fused into his artistic practice, resulting in imagery that intersect the natural, physical, and psychological.

Born in Cambridge, England, Morgan studied at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Arts at Oxford University, and the Royal Academy in London. In 1983, Morgan won the prestigious Harkness Fellowship which led him to further his studies at the San Francisco Art Institute where he earned his Masters in Fine Art. He is now a Professor in their Painting department and at the JFK University (Arts and Consciousness Program). He continues to work and develop his unique works of art.

Looking at Jeremy Morgans paintings in his well-lit waterfront studio it becomes apparent that they are hybrids. Part Taoist, part Romantic, part Abstract, part Expressionist, while consistently remaining quite contemporary and consistent with their own time." (Anna Novakov, former Professor of Art History, SFAI)
