– Manufacturing firms will be embracing e-business and online marketing in 2005 to address their top business challenges, according to the results of a comprehensive study conducted by SVM E-Business Solutions, in cooperation with the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce.

The study, which surveyed more than 80 executives at U.S. manufacturing firms about e-commerce and online marketing trends, found that sales lead generation, growing market share, and strengthening relationships with customers rank as the most important business challenges in 2005. To address these challenges, manufacturers will be embracing the Web and online marketing with 62% of manufacturers recreating their Web site in 2005, 50% engaging in search engine marketing, and 45% conducting email campaigns.

“Manufacturing marketing executives clearly realize the impact e-business has on their company’s success,” notes Bob DeStefano, president of SVM E-Business Solutions. “After sitting on the e-business sidelines for the past few years, manufacturers are ready to step up their online marketing initiatives to achieve business results.” DeStefano is the creator of the detailed survey focusing on capabilities, goals, methodology, challenges, and priorities and compiled the 18-page final report entitled “Manufacturers Embrace E-business.”

Among the many other interesting points revealed, when asked how important internet business is to the their company’s current needs, 83% of the manufacturing executives who responded consider it to be important, with 77% stating that it is extremely or very important. The study also shows that the importance of internet business increases over the next 12 to 18 months, with 88% stating it is important, including 83% that feel it is extremely or very important.    Manufacturers recognize that their customers, suppliers and competitors are leveraging e-commerce to achieve business results and are planning to do the same.
