Milk Blog Attracts Over 5,000 in Two Weeks

Non-profit education campaign on misleading marketing gains widespread attention.

The Center for Global Food Issues “Milk is Milk” consumer education campaign Blog has attracted over 5,000 visitors in less than two weeks, generating significant news media interest, industry and consumer comments. Web statistics show visits to http://www.milkismilk.com to read http://www.milkismilk.com/blog.htm commentaries are coming from over two dozen countries and growing to more than 500 unique visitors a day.

Blog author Alex Avery has exposed questionable marketing practices by such industry leaders as Organic Valley, Horizon Milk and Stonyfield Yogurt and misleading claims by anti-milk activists Steve Wilson, Jane Akre, Robert Cohen and PETA. Beverage Daily, an industry trade magazine, headlined that the misleading milk marketing exposed by CGFI is “dividing the dairy industry,” generating defensive responses from marketing directors at Organic Valley and Horizon Dairy.
