Clever Homes Selected to Design Better Homes and Gardens Magazines 'Better Home Better Living House
Custom-designed house will feature innovative materials and technology built around homeowner feedback
(PRWEB) January 26, 2005 -- Clever Homes, a multidisciplinary home design and construction systems company, has been selected by Better Homes and Gardens magazine to help design its Better Home Better Living house, a custom-engineered house built with innovative materials and technology that will be featured in the November 2005 issue of the magazine. The home will be built outside Atlanta, Georgia in the town of Cumming and awarded to a contest winner as part of the publications Better Home Better Living: Win Americas Home sweepstakes.
The Better Home Better Living house will be constructed using Clever Homes Clever System of integrated building technologies, which includes a panelized system-built method combined with computer management of the home during construction and after completion. This allows for new homes to be constructed and maintained with an interest in environmental sustainability, ease of construction, low cost and overall systems and material integration. Homes constructed with the Clever Homes building approach are built much faster than traditional home construction methods and offer superior strength, greater fire resistance and greatly increased energy efficiency.
"We interviewed many architects and Clever Homes stood out, not only for their imaginative designs, but for their comprehensive approach to the building process," said Karol DeWulf Nickell, Editor-in-Chief of Better Homes and Gardens. They have established alliances and partnerships that give them a broad understanding of innovative products, unique construction techniques, delivery systems, financing, and marketing. That knowledge made them an outstanding choice for this ambitious project."
The featured house is being built around a five-point priority list developed by feedback from nearly 60,000 homeowners who participated in a survey conducted by the magazine. The checklist includes: affordability, innovative features, overall flexibility, a kitchen-centric design and indoor/outdoor living. As such, the completed home will be less than 3,000 square feet (built for under $120 per square foot) with a centrally-located kitchen, easy transitions to indoor and outdoor living spaces and plenty of storage space. The house will also be designed to grow as a family grows, allowing a three-step plan for a home to be built today and added on to later.
We couldnt be more thrilled to have been chosen for this project," said Scott Redmond, CEO of Clever Homes LLC. Its a direct reflection on our goal of creating homes that are in line with the hopes and dreams of todays homeowner."
