New Book Reveals the Inside Story on UK Coach Training

Announcing a new and unique book about training to be a coach - based on,and including, the personal experiences of over 50 trainee and accredited coaches. It is also the story of the inspirational company established to provide training. "A Coaching Journey"- True life stories of coach training published December 2004 by Phosphorous Press.

(PRWEB) January 29, 2005 -- 'Coaching is the buzzword for the twenty first century -- a phenomenon which is spreading so wide and so fast throughout the globe that some say it will take the second coming to knock it off its perch. With media interest at an all time high, most people have heard of the term but few are clear about what exactly 'coaching is and what it can do, and many questions remain unanswered.

For example, who are these people called 'coaches? What special skills and aptitudes do they have that sets them apart from everyone else? What did they do before they became coaches? Why were they motivated to follow this path? How do you know if youd make a good coach? How do you train? How difficult is it? What do you DO when you are a trained coach? Is the end result worth the effort?

Now, a unique new book has been written which addresses all these questions and more. A Coaching Journey -- true life stories of coach training combines personal contributions and case studies from over 50 coaches and trainees with narrative outlining the myriad practical issues, challenges and rewards of coaching and coach training. The result is a revealing and enlightening insight into coach training in the UK.

Uplifting tales of personal transformation, humorous anecdotes about the difficulties of returning to study, inspiring stories of support, motivation and love -- all of these and more combine to make this a fascinating and compelling handbook for anyone considering whether or not to become a coach, and those whod just like to know a whole lot more about it.

Dianne Bown-Wilson, author of A Coaching Journey, is a highly experienced coach, business advisor and mentor, and author. She is frequently commissioned to write and speak on business and personal development issues for a wide range of audiences throughout the UK and abroad. Commenting on her motivation for writing the book, she said:

I felt A Coaching Journey was very much a story waiting to be told. In fact, this book is three stories in one. Its a story about how a few people with a vision set up a business to train coaches; that business became an instant runaway success proving just how much their approach was right and the time had come. Its also a story about coach training and who does what in order to gain the experience and accreditation that enable them to announce, 'Im a coach! Equally its a story about peoples lives -- all the people who have contributed to this book who in some way have had their own lives and the lives of those around them transformed through coaching.

The book is about people and their stories and the way they relate both to an organization and a process. Its about the commonplace and the ordinary and the extraordinary and inspiring all at once. Its about normal, down-to- earth, regular people and I wanted their own voices to be heard -- so I structured the book so that they could be.

But people, no matter how ordinary they are, are also always absolutely extraordinary in some way, more so if theyre involved in something as potentially life-changing as coaching. So together these stories add up to something which we consider unique and inspiring; we believe that there is a vast audience who will find it equally enthralling."

A Coaching Journey -- ISBN 0-9549229-0-5 is published in paperback by independent publisher Phosphorous Press, priced at 7.99.
