Aviation Collectibles: Sales Are Up, Up And Away For Airport Gift Shops. Vintage Style Signs Are Flying Off The Shelves
"They're hot and they're hard to get ahold of." That's what the airport gifts shop are saying about these "new" vintage style aviation signs that are flying off the shelves and bringing in new customers, including the airline employees themselves.
(PRWEB) January 29, 2005 -- Aviation enthusiasts have long enjoyed original keepsakes of this much respected and admired profession, but found that quality mementos were few and far between and very difficult to find. That is until recently when these vintage metal aviation signs started appearing in many high traffic airport shops on the East Coast. "We can't keep them on the shelves," says one employee of a New York airport shop. "We are selling them more to airline employees than to the public, I think, and we actually have a waiting list of people that want us to call as soon as we get more in."
Well, it certainly should be a nice financial boost for these shops, as well, as we've discovered that they are purchasing these signs for a fraction of what they are retailing them for. The company that manufactures these much sought after collectibles is Vintage Metal Art, located at http://www.vintagemetalart.com. After learning of the manufacturer, we spoke with one of their employees to find out some more about this aviation anomaly. "We are producing them as fast as we can," said Anna Strier in Customer Service, "but we are getting in more orders than we can put out in a day. We are currently investing in additional equipment to expedite our manufacturing. It shouldn't be long before we can have our signs "taking off" in all of the airport gift shops at the same time."
Not only are flight staff enjoying these little gems, but they make great souvenirs, as well. How many times have you forgotten to return with a souvenir and struggled to find something worthy in the airport gift shop before returning home? It has certainly happened to the best of us and for some of us, it happens frequently. From the sounds of it, you soon won't have that problem anymore. In addition to being able to produce larger quantities more expeditiously, Vintage Metal Art also reported to us that they will be re-contracting with their artists to produce a larger selection and expanding into other aerial interests, such as sky diving, fighter planes, women flyers and more. They also customize their signs for consumers, businesses and airlines.
For all of you aviation enthusiasts and collectors, this is a company you will want to keep your eye on for unique and original decor. You can also shop at their web site directly, if you just can't wait for for your local gift shop to supply you. Just fly to http://www.vintagemetalart.com
