Local Music Program Has P.R.I.D.E.

State budget cuts and a dramatic decrease in enrollment in music programs across the state has the parents and teachers at Hayward High School concerned. In a proactive response to these challenges, the parents, students and teachers involved within the Hayward instrumental program are hosting a fundraising event on February 5th.

Hayward, CA (PRWEB) January 29, 2005 -- Hayward High School instrumental students take P.R.I.D.E. in their music. P.R.I.D.E. is the groups creed, which stands for Personal Responsibility In Delivering Excellence. Students enrolled in the instrumental program are a tight knit bunch. They practice together on the field, perform together at school events and at local competitions, and can often be found socializing together during their free time in the band room.

State budget cuts and a dramatic decrease in enrollment in music programs across the state has parents and teachers concerned. In a proactive response to these challenges, the parents, students and teachers involved within the Hayward instrumental music program are hosting a fundraising event on February 5th.

Our hope is not only to raise much needed funds for the instrumental music program at Hayward High School" said Music Director, Bryan K. Holbrook, but to inspire and encourage up-and-coming musicians to enroll in available music courses within the district. This event offers a rare opportunity for our students to personally select and perform pieces in smaller ensembles rather than performing as part of the band. Were very excited to share this showcase with our parents and supporters allowing them to experience the unique talents of our musicians. Music is a joy to these kids and they want to share that joy with the community."

Playing music at school keeps my brain flowing," says one student it provides me with a creative outlet and has helped me meet other students who enjoy the same thing." Another student put it very simply I love playing music. It makes me happy."
