S.A.C., Peru’s Main Financial Exchange Portal, Launches the 1st Free Credit-Risk Reporting Service.

Share Article S.A.C. in addition to its usual credit and mortgage brokerage services, now offers free credit reporting using the Central National Risk Database provided by the Banking Regulatory Body of Peru (SBS). This is made available to the public for free and through the site:

"We are very pleased about this new and free service to the public. We believe that publishing the information contained in the Central National Risk Database is another valuable contribution that we are providing to the community "indicates Flavio Graf, manager of S.A.C. "This information is very useful for those who wish to find out the credit positions that the SBS handles, either about themselves or about third parties. Being a third world country, Peru is very price sensitive, therefore, it is very important to provide public information within the reach of everyone. Internet is the best tool to drive costs down thus making this free option a viable one. We are basically trying to level the game for small economic agents who find traditional credit reporting too expensive to use.”

The applications that can be derived from this information are countless. "This service will be heavily used by people who rent property or provide goods at credit, and that is only one of so many practical applications that the new system enables" adds Graf and continues, "even though we have made good progress during the last five years in transparency and information access matters, Peru still struggles to beat what Walter Albán -Peru’s Ombudsman- refers to as the ‘secrecy culture’ in the public service; in fact it has been very difficult for us to convince the SBS to release this data, actually, the SBS has recently moved back, trying to limit our access rights.” S.A.C. has become a place with thousands daily visitors who look for the best credit conditions. At the moment provides financing from three financial institutions, while trying to incorporate two additional participants. “The concept is simple: we have adapted Doug Lebda’s business model to suit our local market; in fact, we are having conversations with other South American parties to extend our modified business model to other countries too. We celebrated our 1st financial new year with credit application number 2,500; this demonstrates us that we are offering a service that the community appreciates and recommends." concludes Graf.
