A college education is a necessity that so many have gone without, and one unfortunate reason has been difficulties in navigating the financial aid landscape. Now, with the East Bay Cash for College workshops, graduating seniors and their families have a resource to help them," says East Bay Consortium Executive Director, Monica Montenegro. I am very proud at the way elected officials, businesses, nonprofit agencies, and educators have come together to make this happen. This is an important day in our community."

The Willie McGee Foundation and East Bay Consortium believe that students should be able to base their college choices on their merit, qualifications, and where they can gain entry, not on what their family can afford to pay in tuition.

The East Bay organizations have joined together with the Statewide Cash for College efforts to ensure that California high school seniors realize their potential beyond high school.

The Bay Area has so many talented, intelligent students who arent aware that college, trade, or vocational school programs are within their financial reach," explains Willie McGee, founder of Willie McGee Foundation. But the money is there for them. All they have to do is know how to fill out the FAFSA and Cal Grant forms, and thats where these free CFC workshops come in. Now, more young people will be able to look at life beyond high school. Im really excited."
