Mentors in Motion: Legitimate Business or Complete Scam?

Mentors In Motion resellers claim to teach the unpublicized secrets of top marketers and offer an opportunity to create incomes of $2,000 per week within 30 days. Is Mentors In Motion for real? Or is it just another gimmick? We went to the source....

(PRWEB) January 31, 2005 -- If you've researched home-based businesses on the Internet, there's no doubt that you've run across this one: Mentors In Motion.

Advertised as a 3 1/2 hour workshop that teaches "the methods of top marketers" and "the only mindset workshop of its kind", Mentors In Motion (also referred to as MIM) seems to have more than its fair share of passionate promoters and skeptics.

A simple web search will show plenty of people who love it. And more than a few who say it's a scam. No doubt, part of that division surrounds the fact that MIM resellers talk about some pretty hefty incomes. One website (http://www.theheavyhitterschool.com) mentions people who have "created $2,000 per week incomes in less than 30 days".

So, what's the truth? Is Mentors In Motion what they claim it is? Or is it just another scam? We talked with Tony Rush, owner of Unlimited Lifestyles, a top authorized reseller of the seminar.

"Part of the problem comes from the fact that most people are simply making a knee-jerk reaction. They assume that any business where people can earn good money without working 60 hours a week as an employee is automaticaly something to raise an eyebrow about."

"The truth is that MIM is offering a product that has huge value to people who are having trouble being successful working from home. And, it's pure capitalism: when people see that the information they're getting is worth far more than the price, well it's a great deal."

"The other reason we catch alot of criticism is what you already mentioned: the income opportunity. Most people who are in a home business have been conditioned that they can't earn a decent income unless they've been working for a couple of years. That's silly," Rush says.

"There are basically two reasons why people fail in a home business:

"First, they're probably in a company that just doesn't pay very well. It's pretty hard to make any decent money when you're only earning 3% on a bottle of vitamins. You'd need 500-1,000 people in your group to make a decent income. But, when you're working in a business where you're getting paid a whopping 80% on every sale....well, it's just not hard to get to a $2,000 per week income in the first month or so."

"The second reason why most people fail is just as simple but it's the most common: amateurs teach amateurs how to be amateur. In other words, most people in a home business are trying to build their business like they're advertising for a garage sale."

"They're putting little flyers under windshield wipers; they're making lists of friends and family; they're leaving business cards lying on the toilet-paper dispensers in public restrooms. It's crazy. No wonder they're not making any money! How many people do you know who look for their next serious income opportunity in a bathroom stall? "

Rush goes on: "MIM offers complete and total alternatives. We teach people how to have literally HUNDREDs of people everyday requesting information on their business. We show them how they can use a special delegated system to quickly start earning multiple $400 commissions on a daily or weekly basis."

"And it's absolutely exhilirating to watch people who've never been successful who start earning a six-figure income within their first 90 days."

Rush says, "I got started in this business 14 months ago and earned back my investment in less than 48 hours and made $1,200 in my first week. It's just a matter of being coachable and trainable."

So, what's in this seminar that everyone's so eager to buy?

The seminar is taught by teleconference by a marketer named Val Smyth. Smyth describes himself as a "former dysfunctional marketer who learned the secrets of the heavy hitters". Smyth says that he struggled for more than 15 years trying to learn to make a living by working from home.

After years of failure, frustration and criticism from his friends and family, he finally stumbled onto the simple principles that most top marketers are not willing to teach their sales organizations.

Smyth says, "I remember the day my dad said, 'Son, why don't you give up the dream and get a job'. And I said, "Dad, I'd rather be dead than to work for someone else. I know I'm worth far more than a wage."

And apparently he was right. By using "delegation instead of duplication", Smyth was able to work less than 3 hours a day from home and personally enroll 50+ each month in his home business. In fact, by teaching these methods to his his sales organization (or "downline") he was soon adding more than 500 people per day into his business.

"And he did it without home parties, hotel meetings, three-way calls, one-on-one presentations, making lists of friends and family or handing out business cards. Heck, he didn't even have a website," says Rush.

Today, Smyth has taught his methods to tens of thousands of people who have attended the Mentors In Motion teleseminar.

We asked Rush what a prospective student could expect to learn from the Mentors In Motion seminar. He responded by saying, "Well, for one thing, we teach people to get out of their old habits of thinking and to really see what can be accomplished in a home business."

"For instance, most people in a network marketing or direct sales company can't get people to even take a look at their business. And yet people who finish our course will know EXACTLY how to personally enroll 20-30 people into their business or close 20-30 sales per month."

"It's all about skills. Most people jump from one business to the next to the next and never achieve any success. They wind up blaming the company, the pay plan or the product. But, if they'll notice, there's only ONE person who was 'at the scene of every crime' -- them! And when we show these folks the simple skills and techniques they can put to use IMMEDIATELY...well, they get pretty blown away with their new abilities. It's really quite powerful."

And what about the criticisms? Does it effect business?

Rush laughs, "No, I don't worry about those people. Most of the people who are negative about Mentors In Motion are well-intentioned but also un-informed. Of the few criticisms I've seen, I've not seen a single one that was from someone who actually attended the seminar."

"Most of the time, they're just people who sit in Internet forums and dispense advice that they read in a book somewhere. They enjoy the attention of being perceived as a guru....but, at the end of the day, they just don't have many facts."

"And, truth be known, most of them have never earned more than $500 a month in any home business. I decided a long time ago that I don't take financial advice from broke people. And I think that's good advice for anyone."

The Mentors In Motion program includes a 3 1/2 hour workshop and three live, interative training calls each week.

Additionally, Rush offers several bonuses that are not part of the normal package. "We like to under-promise and over-deliver.

So, in addition to the MIM seminar and weekly training, students that enroll through our office get alot of extra value. They get access to the Campaign Recruiting System (http://www.recruitmorepeople.com) an 8-CD set training course that offers tips, strategies and methods of MIM's top enrollers.

"Also, we have a lead co-op that produces thousands of qualified prospects every week. So, when someone enrolls with us, they literally have access to tons of prospects who are waiting to hear from someone about Mentors In Motion."

"We feel that it really helps new students get started quickly when they know they've got plenty of people who have already ASKED to receive information."
