Judge Carrie E. Glaeden Evaluates Ohio's "We the People...The Citizen and the Constitution" High School Competition Participants

More than 100 students from 10 high schools across Ohio took part in a statewide competition sponsored by the Ohio Center for Law-Related Education and judged by the Honorable Carrie E. Glaeden and other dignitaries.

Columbus, OH (PRWEB) February 1, 2005 -- The Honorable Carrie E. Glaeden evaluated "We the People...the Citizen and the Constitution" statewide high school competition participants on Friday, January 28, 2005.

More than 100 students, teachers and administrators from 10 high schools across the state assembled at the Ohio Statehouse where the students were judged on their knowledge, understanding and application of the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

"The Ohio Center for Law-Related Education's 'We the People' competition is a great way for high school students to learn about the Constitution through direct and active participation, instead of merely reading about it," said Franklin County Municipal Court Judge Glaeden. "As a result, the students gain a better understanding of the Bill of Rights, our country's history and the legislative hearing process."

Glaeden continued, "over the last four years of judging the event, I have always been so impressed with the students who participate in this competition. They clearly put long hours into studying the Constitution and its application to today's events. It is comforting to know that such highly motivated and intelligent youth will be our future leaders."

Students from Westlake, Cuyahoga Heights, Archbold, St. Henry, Findlay, West Carrollton, Northmont Clayton, Ketterington Fairmont, Bishop Hartley and Willoughby Eastlake took part in the daylong event.

Findlay, Archbold and Northmont Clayton high schools were awarded first, second and third place respectively during an awards ceremony in the Statehouse Atrium at the conclusion of the competition.
