Over 100 Firms to Exhibit at e-Services Philippines 2005

Over 100 exhibitors will participate in the Philippines' largest e-Services-focused exhibit and conference, which takes place February 17-18. In its fifth year, the conference is the key networking event of the year for ITES sectors and their suppliers.

Manila, Philippines (PRWEB) February 3, 2005 -- Over 100 local and international firms will participate in the fifth annual e-Services Philippines (ESP) exhibit organized by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), including e-services firms from Central Luzon and the southern cities of Cebu and Davao.

The exposition takes place February 17-18 at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, Manila and will showcase six IT and ITES sectors: animation, business process outsourcing, contact centers, medical transcription, software application development, and engineering and design.

Each year, more and more companies are discovering that e-Services Philippines is an extremely cost-effective opportunity to network first-hand with potential clients in North America, Europe, and Asia - the Philippines primary markets for e-services," said Assistant Secretary Felicitas Agoncillo-Reyes, CITEM executive director.

Drawing thousands of local and international trade visitors, the 2004 exhibit generated 2,303 trade contacts for participants and a very conservatively estimated PhP 41 million in local sales and U.S.$1.6 million in export sales. We are optimistic that the 2005 show will be even more successful."

CITEM said participants from the US, Canada, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, and Singapore, as well as a trade delegation from Japan, have already confirmed their participation to ESP 2005. Registration is ongoing.

Industry associations participating in e-Services include the Information Technology Association of America, Medical Transcription Association of the Philippines, CebuSoft, and the Association of Solution Integrators in Davao.

Aside from ITES providers, the exhibit will showcase purpose-built IT parks and firms that provide IT infrastructure, technology and other support services to e-services firms (referred to as e-nablers"); schools and institutions that have developed innovative IT projects that can be commercially marketed (e-novation"); and agencies providing online, interactive and transactional services to the public (e-citizen").

Corporate exhibitors include multinational and local industry technology giants such as Innove Communications, PLDT Business Solutions, BayanTel, MozCom, EACOMM Corporation, and Alliance Technologies Corporation.

A business conference will be held concurrent to the expo and will feature presentations and panel discussions by respected local and international business and ITES executives as well as top Philippine government officials. They include NASSCOM president Kiran Karnik, IDC associate director for Asia Pacific services Phil Hassey, ITAA chairman Harris Miller, and Headstrong managing director Puneet Pushkarna,

Senator Manuel A. Roxas II, Department of Trade and Industry secretary Cesar Purisima, Commission on ICT chairman Virgilio Pena, and Commission on ICT commissioner Dondi Mapa will make keynote addresses at the conference.

Panel discussions will be concerned with a range of pressing issues, including branding the Philippines as an outsourcing destination of choice, the technological imperatives of global competitiveness, and sustaining the demand for skilled manpower by enhancing educational infrastructure. A global research firm specializing in ITES sectors will provide an overview of e-services trends that will shape the business landscape over the next half decade. The second day of the conference will feature breakout sessions on the six high-growth ITES sectors.

Also concurrent to the exposition CITEM will conduct its annual e-Services awards program - open to all local exhibitors - which recognizing the most innovative solutions, applications, and service offerings developed by Filipinos over the past year. It will also announce this years winner for the much anticipated Animazing Shorts, a film competition involving students and amateur animators.

Winners will be chosen based on their distinctly Filipino brand of innovation, market potential, and presentation," Ms. Reyes said.
