A Second Revisiting" by Stan Woodard on Display During Shelter" at Eyedrum in Atlanta, GA January 29 -- March 5, 2005

Stan Woodard is presenting a new work, entitled A second revisiting" during Eyedrum Art & Music Gallerys group exhibition Shelter" from January 29 - March 5th Shelter opens with an artists reception on Saturday January 29, at 9 pm. Eyedrum is located at 291 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., SE in Atlanta, Georgia.

(PRWEB) February 2, 2005 -- The site specific, temporary outdoor work by Stan Woodard is comprised of materials mainly collected in the Eyedrum environs, as well as other found materials. Among the elements of A second revisiting" are remnants from Rui Sekidos performance Pregnant Stone" at Eyedrum in 2002; including bamboo that Woodard previously employed in a work that adorned the signature Eyedrum tower from 2003-04. Remnants of other events at Eyedrum are also included. At night lamps powered by solar energy will illuminate the piece. A video component within the gallery space documents the scene outside Eyedrum, the previous resting place of the main elements.

While continuing discussions on histories of places and commoditized objects, the intent of this piece is to install a sort of shrine that refers to the ritual place that was created when Rui performed in the Eyedrum parking lot. Through his use of the bamboo and rope, he initially aestheticized them, maybe even blessed them. My use and reuse of those things extends their life spans as aestheticized objects. The use of solar energy to light it is a bonus that adds the element of it being directly connected to the source that allows all of us to even be here. Woodards work has previously been seen at Eyedrum, the Dalton Gallery at Agnes Scott College, City Gallery East, and MOCA GA. He is also a creator of experimental music and has appeared at performance spaces and art galleries. He was awarded a 2003-04 KBFUS fellowship, promoting cultural exchange between Belgium and the US.

Shelter", organized by Eyedrum board members Karen Tauches and Robert Cheatham, is part of the collaboration with Agnes Scott College, and Georgia State University -- Gas, Food and Lodging" -- each of the partners will present group art shows during the exhibition period.
