"Drinkin' Buddy" to be Auctioned off on eBay - Bar-hopper Trying to Raise Money for Charity
Want a night out drinking with the boys? A NJ man is auctioning himself off on eBay as the next best thing. The winning bidder will get to booze it up with "The Drinkin' Buddy" and all proceeds will go to charity.
Brick, NJ (PRWEB) February 2, 2005 -- A local area man has taken his favorite pass time and turned it into a way to raise money for charity. Richard Stern is auctioning off a night of drinking on eBay to raise money for one of five national charities.
"I wanted to support these charities, so I decided to take what I've learned sitting on bar stools and put it to good use," Stern said playfully.
The auction began on February 1st at 10:31:12 PST on the eBay website (www.ebay.com). Through emails to friends and word-of-mouth, the auction has already seen several hundred visitors.

Per the terms of the auction, the high bidder of this auction will be asked to donate the entire sum of their bid to one of the following charities of their choice: The Red Cross, The American Diabetes Association, The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, The American Heart Association or The American Cancer Society.
"There has been a lot of money going to tsunami relief -- which is wonderful. However, I wanted to do something for those important charities that might get overlooked in the wake of that terrible tragedy," Stern added.
Stern has agreed to travel anywhere in the tri-state area and even to go as far as Los Angeles or Boston for the winning bid.
While Stern admits this isn't the most orthodox approach to fundraising, he thinks it will make a splash.
"My goal is to see more money being raised from the auction then I could afford to give myself. I'm sure everyone has read about the guy that sold his forehead on eBay for $30,000 -- if I could raise 1/10th of that for charity, I'd be thrilled.
The auction will run until Feb-11-05 10:31:12 PST
