Valentines That Really Do Sparkle
With increased numbers of couples finding innovative and unique ways to propose, some are even turning to Wedding Planners for proposal styling or to stage a surprise proposal before the planning even starts.

For years our clients would come to us once they had decided to marry, perhaps even had already booked a venue for the wedding, and then wanted the wedding planner to complete the planning and styling. In the last year, however, we have started to receive enquiries even before the proposal as couples have increasingly busy lifestyles and demanding criteria for such an important moment, and part of the styling and planning has included the formal proposal. They know they are going to marry, but want the actual moment to be memorable, picture perfect and a stunning appetizer to the actual day.
In 2004 Elysian styled 5 proposals which included travelling to St Paul de Vence in France with a team of seven to style and plan a private proposal in the grounds of a summer home complete with orchestra and thousands upon thousands of Vendella roses which were hung on wires down the side of the building to create an amazing backdrop to the proposal. Champagne was served under the late summer sun, as the couple were joined with friends and family to celebrate their engagement.
Elysian Consultants most unusual proposal was however in central London last summer. The client had seen our portfolio which included a wedding in Somerset where during summer; we transformed the back of the property into a full blown winter landscape, complete with the requisite snow, glass marquee and stunning white silk fabrics. All without the guests or bride knowing until after the ceremony, when they walked through double doors in the reception. The client wanted to make the evening a complete surprise for his girlfriend who was flying in the night before from California. We hired a town house that was normally used for film shoots in London and transformed the outside into a winter landscape, with snow and trees which we painted white, and pinned fresh flowers into. The inside was transformed into a beautifully dressed dining room complete with roaring fire (and air conditioning!, elegant taper candles and silverware. The gourmand style dining was presented over 7 courses by a team of chefs. Our client proposed during desert, in front of the fire and all went fabulously well. We are now mid way planning the wedding for summer this year. We received a large bouquet of flowers the following day as a thank you.
