(PRWEB) February 7, 2005 -- On Saturday, May 7, 2005, the CT Authors and Publishers Association (CAPA) will host the 2nd annual CAPA-U, a professional development day for writers of all levels, from inside and outside CT. CAPA-Us first year, in 2004, was a standing-room-only event. Dont miss this spectacular day of learning and networking with some of the countrys best writers, authors and book marketing experts.
Begin the day with a keynote address by Rick Frishman, renowned publicist and President of NYC-based Planned Television Arts. Mr. Frishman is co-author of the national bestsellers Guerrilla Marketing For Writers and Guerrilla Publicity, and author of Networking Magic: Find the Best - from Doctors, Lawyers, and Accountants to Homes, Schools and Jobs. He has worked with dozens of well-known authors including Bill Moyers, Richard Preston, Mark Victor Hansen, Hugh Downs, Henry Kissinger, Jack Canfield, Alan Dershowitz, Arnold Palmer, and Harvey Mackay.
Following Rick Frishmans keynote, you will "Meet the Agents" for a stimulating round of questions and answers with literary agents and editors. Next, choose among five sets of workshops designed to explore writing techniques, copyrights, the road to publication, and how to market your work.
Throughout the day, writers will have the opportunity to meet privately with one of thirteen NY, CT and NJ literary agents or editors to discuss representation of their work. Advance registration for this is required, along with a two-page query letter that helps CAPA match each writer with the appropriate agent.
Workshop leaders at CAPA-U include authors Tim Parrish, Donna Ferber, and Kristi Petersen; freelance writers Arun Sinha, Elizabeth Molle, Deb Swift and Helen Ubinas; poet Elizabeth Thomas; marketing gurus Courtney Febbroriello, Brian Jud and Nanette Miner; intellectual property attorney Renee Duff, nonfiction proposal specialist Linda Konner; novelist and crime writer Jerry Labriola; and expert in publisher financing, Marion Gropen.
CAPA-U will be held in the conference facilities at Hartford Steam Boiler, Inc., One State Street, Hartford, CT, from 9am to 5pm. Pre-registration is required. Parking is included in the registration fee, as are continental breakfast and lunch. The cost is $130 per person ($115 for registrations received by March 19). Those registering by March 19 will also receive an "early bird" bonus: Brian Jud's Beyond the Bookstore, complete with audio CD, a $49.99 value, absolutely free.
