Open Cockpit Biplanes Offer Bird's Eye View of San Diego Flower Fields
Biplane, Air Combat & Warbird Adventures is set to launch its 11th season of vintage airplane flights over the flower fields at Carlsbad Ranch. Over 50 acres of ranunculus flowers burst into bloom each spring at The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch. Spectacular from the ground, the sight is incomparable from the seat of an open cockpit biplane. This bird's eye view will be remembered for a lifetime.
Carlsbad, CA (PRWEB) February 5, 2005 -- According to company president Kate Lister, "Cruising along over the flower fields, past Legoland California, and along Carlsbad's beautiful beaches, our flights offer unmatched photo opportunities." Nine different colors of ranunculus are planted next to I-5 in Carlsbad near the new LegoLand children's amusement park and just 3 miles from McClellan-Palomar Airport where the flights originate .
Chief pilot "Tailspin Tommy" Harnish adds, "This time of year we also often have the unique opportunity to spot mother whales and newborn calves starting the long journey back to Alaska. The babies are a delight to watch . . . imagine a two ton puppy romping through a forest of kelp and you have the right image. "
The company's open cockpit biplanes accommodate two passengers side-by-side in the front cockpit plus a pilot who flies from the back seat. Flower Flights start at just $79.50 per person when two fly together. The blooms are best during March and April. Longer biplane rides include the flower fields plus views of Del Mar, mansions in Rancho Santa Fe, and La Jolla. Other flights are available including the Red Baron Thrill Ride, the Dapper Duffer Aerial Golf Tour, the romantic Sunset Snuggler, U-Fly-It rides, Top Dog Air Combat dogfights, loops and rolls in an authentic WWII warbird, and a Great Gatsby Fly/Dine that's perfect if "love is in the air".
Biplane, Air Combat & Warbird Adventures is the oldest and largest full-time vintage air tour company in the country, and one of the most unique activities in California.
