New Online Comic Site, www.george-comics.com, Opens
The bi-weekly comic "George," written by John Norton of Clovis, CA, has a new home on the web at www.george-comics.com. The comic is set to focus largely on the areas of computer and technology use, but is broad enough to appeal to large audiences.
(PRWEB) February 6, 2005 -- A new online comic strip from John Norton, entitled "George," is officially up and open for business.
Though the comic strip has been featured both online and in print in the past, it is now found exclusively online on its updated website, www.george-comics.com. New comics will be added to the site every Monday and Thursday.
The strip will largely focus on the areas of computer and technology use, as two of the characters, Rob and Greg, are self-professed computer geeks who find themselves somewhat alienated from everyone but each other because of their interests. Still, the entire cast will provide more than enough entertainment for fans of all ages and interests. Other characters include George's relatively normal girlfriend, Amanda, his hippie cousin, Dave, a blues guitarist, Chain-link Jefferson, and will undoubtedly be introducing more characters as time progresses.
Norton has been advertising the site on Google, Kanoodle, and other directories across the web in hopes of getting it into the public eye. But with the great number of online comics accessible to the public, he realizes it needs to stand out from the crowd on its own.
"I think the comic has attributes that are lacking in many strips I frequently read," says Norton. "I try to keep George fresh, interesting, funny, and smart without being presumptuous. It also doesn't hurt to be a little quirky, or mildly off-beat."
Though working on the comic is not his full-time job, it does take up a large portion of Norton's free time. "If I can get the site out there and get people reading it and enjoying it, it will be worth it," he says. "Who knows, if I'm lucky we might be seeing George in the real funny pages in a few years."
"George" is set to become a big hit in the online comics community.
