Ilene Dillons Full Power Living Presents Power of Performing Arts as Community Change Agent

A long-time international teacher of dance and performance, Keriac addresses performing art as a change agent and community builder.

Keriac has been teaching and performing dance for 40 years in Europe and the U.S. She trained with members of the Martha Graham and Jose Limon dance companies and with Anna Halprin at Californias Tamalpa Institute before discovering her love of Contact Improvisation and New Dance in 1977. She holds a B.F.A. degree in Sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design and a B.A. degree in Art Education. She taught her first dance class at age 19, created and performed on her own folk music radio program, and has trained in theater and worked as an actor and director. Keriac is the mother of a grown daughter. In 1986 she founded the Dancing Together" program, a full-time artistic community for emerging dance artists on two continents.

On this program, Keriac explores the large range of reasons that people dance, the three territories" of dance that make up the how," why" and who" of dance, creative interaction and community-building that exists between audience and performer, and the inevitable change in both performer and audience member when performance successfully does its mission. Keriacs unique approach to performance has built a large, loyal and loving community for her that stretches all around the world.
