Residence Inn By Marriott At Toronto Airport, Scheduled To Open Early In March 2005

Atlific Hotels and Resorts adds to portfolio of hotels

TORONTO, ONTARIO (PRWEB) February 7, 2005 -- Construction is almost complete and a scheduled opening of the first week of March 2005 is soon to be a reality for Torontos newest jewel, the $16 Million Residence Inn by Marriott at Toronto Airport, John Dunn, vice president Sales & Marketing of Atlific Hotels and Resorts, announced today.

Its a great economic shot in the arm for Toronto", Dunn said, adding that once completed, the $16 Million hotel will have employed more than 120 full-time construction jobs, translating into 60,000 man-hours of employment and 40 full-time staff once operational."

The exterior work is complete and the construction crew is inside putting the final touches on the guest suites which feature one or two bedrooms, a full kitchen and a separate living room. This particular Residence Inn by Marriott has upgraded finishes such as marble tiled bathroom floors, granite countertops in the bathroom and kitchen, and fireplaces in many of the suites" commented Kelly Anne Yeaman, Area General Manager.

Located at 17 Reading Court, the nine storey hotel features 137 one and two bedroom suites, two meeting rooms (total 1000 sq ft), indoor pool, hot tub and exercise room. Scheduled to open in March of 2005, the hotel will also offer 24 hour complimentary shuttle service to and from the Pearson International Airport, located five minutes away. Residence Inn, a brand in the Marriott family, is an extended-stay brand combining residential atmosphere with spacious accommodations.

With Atlific already operating both the Courtyard by Marriott Toronto Airport and the Carlingview Airport Inn, the Residence Inn by Marriott will be a natural fit into the area," said Yeaman. It will definitely increase Marriotts presence in the airport hotel market."

Kelly Anne Yeaman, winner of both Marriott Canada Region General Manager and Atlific General Manager of the Year for 2002, will head up the impressive Residence Inn Management Team as Area General Manager. Kelly Anne has worked with Atlific Hotels & Resorts for 5 years and oversaw the opening of the Courtyard by Marriott Toronto Airport which was awarded in 2003 among Courtyard by Marriotts with the highest Quality Assurance Score. Also appointed and included in the photograph are Gina Villanueva, Hotel Manager and Michael Welsh, Cluster Director of Sales. In total the hotel will create approximately 40 new positions.

The Senior Management Team has been selected including the positions mentioned above and Guest Services Manager, Housekeeping Manager, and Lead Maintenance. These key team players are currently conducting the final selection process for the entire opening staff. We received hundreds of resumes, allowing us to carefully select experienced individuals with a keen sense for service", noted Yeaman, and she added there will of course be additions to the team and more opportunities as high season approaches."

Welsh is excited to finally welcome the first guests, he commented pre-sales for the hotel have been underway for approximately six months, and have been well received with several guests booking even before the doors have opened. The Residence Inn concept is ideal for business travelers who will be away from home for an extended period of time. Free hi-speed Internet is a key selling feature".

The hotel boasts two meeting rooms ideal for groups of up to 50 people. Often this size of meeting can be tough for meeting planners to place as there is a limited inventory at the Toronto Airport. Were expecting these rooms to be in hot demand", commented Welsh.

Marriott guests are extremely loyal and have been awaiting the opening of a Residence Inn by Marriott in the busy Toronto Airport area, offering both suites with kitchens and convenient access to the businesses in the airport area -- even better they receive their Marriott Rewards", stated Villanueva, Hotel Manager, recently promoted from Guest Services Manager at Courtyard by Marriott Toronto Airport. Families will also enjoy the hotel", added Villanueva, with reasonably priced suites that offer extra space to relax and a spectacular indoor pool with two-story high ceiling with skylights".

Yeaman couldnt conceal her enthusiasm for the opening we have all been working towards this opening for months, from Marketing to Sales to Operations. I feel fortunate to have such a competent and enthusiastic team in place". She added Residence Inn Toronto Airport is affectionately known to us as RITA. She has a bit of all of our personalities and with our combined passion for hospitality excellence she is sure to become a success."
