Contest Bestows Best College Story with $1,000 and Place in Upcoming Book

CollegeStories.com and Villard Books are looking to turn your college memories into a fame and fortune.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) February 8, 2005 -- Living with that stinky freshman roommate may start paying off in a new contest from CollegeStories.com and Villard Books to support their upcoming book, Class Acts: 101 Amazing, Outrageous College Exploits." The top story will receive $1,000 and the all-important title of Greatest College Story. All stories must be submitted by May 15th.

Authors Ben Applebaum, Ryan McNally and Derrick Pittman have reviewed over 2,500 tales from the beer-soaked archives of CollegeStories.com. Were compiling the most surprising, funny and approximately true stories of college life," says Pittman. Everyone has a handful of stories they retell with good friends. Were hoping theyll want to share those with us."

The best stories will form the basis of this compendium of legendary pranks, impossibly bad roommates and embarrassing mishaps. Commendable second-place stories in 12 categories will receive $50 gift packs from Random House.

Here are a few examples of some of the leading contenders:

- Gee Walker's Obituary Revenge: As a practical joke, some "friends" place an obituary notice in the paper for a buddy while he's away. He comes back to a shocked campus and hundreds of condolences.
- Hooters and Honors: Young coed working at Hooters earns her biggest tips ever celebrating with a 52-year-old "Birthday Boy". At the start of the following semester, we learn that "Birthday Boy" will be her English professor.
- The Dog Ate My Condom: A student hooks up with his girlfriend in his parents' house. After the deed, he disposes of his protection, only to see it resurface when the dog drags it downstairs during family dinner.

CollegeStories.com is home to thousands of true tales from campuses around the world. The editors of the site have also self-published an uncensored guide to college slang entitled Turd Ferguson & the Sausage Party.

Villard Books is an imprint of Random House Inc.
