Leapstone Announces AdvancedTCA® Service Broker for Carrier Networks
Leapstone Joins Intel® Communications Alliance as an Affiliate Member; CCE serviceBROKER Utilizes Intel® Processors
(PRWEB) February 9, 2005 -- Leapstone Systems, a leading provider of intelligent service delivery and content management solutions, today announced that its innovative CCE serviceBROKER solution has been ported to Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (AdvancedTCA) platforms utilizing Intel® processors.
Leapstone's Communications Convergence Engine (CCE) products enable wireline, wireless and cable operators to design, package, deploy and manage a broad range of compelling content and services. The CCE serviceBROKER provides operators with the necessary tools to maximize the revenue potential of voice services over their next-generation networks. As a foundation for VoIP service deployment, the CCE serviceBROKER enables a portfolio of services to be delivered irrespective of underlying transport technologies. Its unique architectural approach optimizes service flexibility and speeds time to market, enabling operators to select best-in-class vendor offerings and package them for rapid delivery to different market segments.
This announcement is a result of Leapstones ongoing efforts to align its service broker technology with the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) architectural framework. IMS was created by 3GPP and offers service providers the opportunity to build an open IP based service infrastructure that will enable easy deployment of real time multimedia services, such as enhanced messaging, multimedia conferencing, and video based services. Because of the significant technical and market demands placed on an IMS, the AdvancedTCA version of Leapstones CCE serviceBROKER promises to be an ideal platform for IMS infrastructure deployment.
We are seeing carriers the world over looking for new business models and standards-based modular architectures that deliver services such as data, voice over IP, video streaming and video telephony in a simple cohesive architecture," said Rick Orriss, Leapstone President and CEO. By porting our CCE serviceBROKER to the ATCA platform and leveraging the power of the Intel® Xeon(TM) processor, we are delivering a key component of this emerging architecture and providing significant value to our customers."
The AdvancedTCA (ATCA®) version of Leapstones CCE serviceBROKER is powered by Intel® Architecture and built with modular communications building blocks optimized for the Linux operating system. The company expects this ATCA-based solution, which it plans to make available for carriers in Q2 of 2005, to greatly enhance the capability of service providers to profitably offer the triple play" of voice, data and video services to their broadband residential, enterprise and mobile customers.
"As the industry moves away from proprietary architectures, industry standards-based modular communications platforms based on Intel® building blocks are proving to be the platform of choice for time-to-market new service delivery" said Robert Heymann, director, communications infrastructure market development at Intel. "Leapstone is delivering on this promise with its CCE serviceBROKER solution for AdvancedTCA IP Multimedia Subsytems."
The AdvancedTCA version of Leapstones CCE serviceBROKER solution utilizes an ATCA Server running Intel Xeon processors. As a modular, carrier-grade platform architecture, AdvancedTCA is designed to provide carriers with improved time-to-market and overall network simplicity, while delivering high performance and high availability carrier-class services within a single NEBS-3/ETSI compliant chassis. The architecture is an open standards initiative currently supported by over 100 vendors.
Working together further, Leapstone today also announced that it has accepted an invitation to join the Intel® Communications Alliance as an Affiliate Member. The Intel Communications Alliance is a community of communications and embedded developers and solutions providers. For more information visit: http://www.intel.com/go/ica.
"We have a growing relationship with Intel and our willingness to bring our CCE products to their platforms is one important way in which we invest in them and our mutual customers," said Paul Shaneck, Leapstone VP Sales and Business Development. "Our membership in the Intel Alliance Program, our support of AdvancedTCA, combined with the business opportunities now available through our relationship with Intel, will enable us to continue delivering the industry-leading solutions network operators have come to expect from Leapstone."
