Before joining Clark Consulting, Gordon practiced law for 33 years at OMelveny & Myers, LLP, an internationally prominent law firm in Los Angeles, CA. During his tenure at that firm Gordon was a senior partner, former chair of the firms Tax Department, and chair of the firms employee benefits practice. In those roles, he helped national companies review and implement executive compensation and nonqualified benefit programs.

At OMelveny & Myers, Gordons practice covered federal tax, labor, and securities law issues in connection with retirement plans, as well as stock option plans, welfare plans, and executive compensation plans. His practice represented organizations of all sizes in connection to their employee benefit plans (including multiemployer plans and a variety of public sector plans), as well as boards of directors, compensation committees, executives, and fiduciaries. He also structured many Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOP).
