(PRWEB) February 10, 2005 -- Stay in the Race" serves as a reminder that aspiring entrepreneurs can put themselves in the drivers seat in their pursuit of venture capital for their start ups and growth companies by presenting at the Southeast Venture Capital Forum this spring. The forum will be held on April 13-14, 2005 for its second year in partnership with the Wayne Brown Institute (WBI). Applications to present are being accepted until February 21 via www.sevencap.org and are considered on a first-come/first-served, rolling basis.
WBIs Investors Choice® selection process first uses a proprietary screening methodology involving the Venture Ready Report developed by Dr. Ron Mitchell of the University of Victoria's International Centre for Venture Expertise and adapted to emerging technology and small business use by WBI. The Venture Ready Report incorporates over 15 years of accumulated research on successful venture-backed businesses. Through the use of both qualitative and quantitative assessment methodologies, the Venture Ready Report helps to gauge the strength of a business plan and how well it communicates those strengths to Investors.
When a company is selected to present, WBI assigns a Deal Maker Team to help prepare their presentation and supporting materials. The Deal Maker Teams are comprised of members of the Cooperative Venturing Network, a nationwide network of professionals in equity-backed businesses that includes current (and former) successful entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, financial, legal, and investment professionals, all of whom are volunteering their time to help.
A detailed executive summary, a one-page fact sheet and an application fee of $195 must be submitted via the website in order for a company to be considered. Once submitted, materials are reviewed by a panel of venture capitalists that then select some companies immediately, while placing others in a pending status file to be notified later. An additional $500 presentation fee will also be required of those companies selected to present at the conference.
