Tubby Makes Los Angeles Debut at Harvelle's

SoCal funk/rock act TUBBY plays at Harvelle's March 10, 2005 9:00pm. Tubby is a five-piece band that plays it's own brand of Funk/Rock Music. Drummer Billy Ray (formerly of Ike Turner & the Kings of Rhythm, 2001-2004 band) says "this band combines elements of Greasy funk, Jamband-type instrumentals, Frenetic jazz/rock passages, and a whole big bucket of fun, sweat, and attitude."

Formed in the summer of 2002, Tubby is a high-energy, no-holds-barred fusion of rock, soul and funk. Club owners have pegged Tubby as the best band to come out of San Diego in years and their growing fan base agrees.

They have already tasted arena crowds, been televised in 15 states, enjoyed feature radio airplay on 91X (the area's premier modern rock station) and 92.1 (premium indie-rock), and opened for bands such as Fishbone and Common Sense. As well as receiving a prestigious nomination for Best New Artist in San Diego by the San Diego Music Awards in 2002, Tubby's debut album "Unpredictable Jiggle" was nominated for Best Rock Album in 2003.

Upcoming significant events for the band:

Opening for Blue Oyster Cult March 18th in San Diego at 4th & B, San Diego's premiere concert house.

Release of the new album (currently untitled) mid-April. No definite date as of yet but check http://www.tubbyfunk.com or http://www.billraydrums.com for news regarding this.
