Intergenerational Social Security Warfare Coming

Author predicts intergenerational warfare, as young people, who are less likely to have health insurance or a retirement plan, rebel against being forced to provide comfortable retirement and medical care for oldsters.

(PRWEB) February 14, 2005 -- Peter Simmons, noted author and consultant, predicts intergenerational warfare over Social Security reform.

"Young people under 40 know they are being swindled by Social Security" Simmons says. "When I speak to groups about the coming generational crash, I'm surprised at how angry young people are. They realize Social Security is nothing more than a cushy welfare program for retirees. They see retirees traveling, buying RV's and enjoying the good life - while younger people struggle to pay payroll taxes for Social Security and Medicare. Younger people are less likely to have medical insurance - yet they are forced to pay to keep a retiree healthy. Young people can see there is no army of children to pay for their Social Security when they retire. There is a lot of anger and resentment out there."

The problems with Social Security are magnified by the generational wave. A lot of the baby boomers are going to hit retirement in the next few years. This tsunami rolling through our nation is also going to wreak havoc on the stock market and real estate.

"The forces are lining up," Simmons says. "On one side, we have the simmering resentment of younger people, forced to pay for someone else's cushy retirement and medical care. On the other side, we have organizations such as AARP scaring the daylights out of retirees by claiming 'their' Social Security is being stolen from them. It's a sure recipe for intergenerational warfare."

In his book: The Next Crash: Peter Simmons talks about the impact the generational wave is going to have on the United States in the next few years. Reviewers have called The Next Crash a survival manual for the 21st century.
