Vertabase Pro, a leading web-based project management software application for business, has been nominated as the Best E-business Software in the eighth annual SYS-CON Media “Reader’s Choice” awards competition.

The “Reader’s Choice” awards are considered the most prestigious contest in the software industry, and it is often referred to as the industry’s “Oscars.” The products participating in the program were nominated by their vendors, customers, users or SYS-CON readers. This year, a record number of companies and products were nominated.

“It is a great honor just to be nominated for this award competition,” said Mark Phillips, CEO of Madison Heights-based Standpipe Studios, which developed Vertabase Pro. “We are exceptionally proud of this product, which makes people more efficient by tracking project progress online from computers anywhere in the world.”

Vertabase Pro, which uses the web to track business projects in one central location, has been nominated in two additional categories: Best Web and Most Innovative applications. Vertabase, launched in 1999, is user-friendly and entirely web-based, accessible using a web-browser. The most recent version, 3.6, was launched last July.

Currently, the software is being used to track projects in the automotive, financial, healthcare, education, small business and government industries. In addition to tracking projects, resources and budgets, customers praise Vertabase Pro’s powerful functionality that significantly reduces meeting times. The software enables team members to be in the loop on projects at all times.

“Customers tell us they like the fact that Vertabase Pro provides companywide visibility on all projects and that they get great results,” Phillips said. “We’ve heard that revenues from our customers are increasing substantially from capturing previously untracked costs.”

The “Reader’s Choice” polls for the competition opened Feb. 1 and will close July 31st. More than 50,000 readers are expected to cast their votes to select the best software products and services of the year for Java, Linux, Web Services, XML, Microsoft .NET, ColdFusion and Macromedia MX.

The public is invited to vote in the competition. Ballots are available online at the Vertabase Pro website http://www.vertabase.com or at http://sys-con.com/mx/readerschoice2004/vote.cfm. Product testimonials and news items are available online at http://www.vertabase.com.
