Santa Fe Future, A Gathering of Leaders for the Future of Our Community, is preparing to release their findings, recommendations and to present "Awards From The Future."

Sponsored by Santa Fe Economic Development, Inc. (SFEDI), Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce and Santa Fe Community College, Santa Fe Future has assembled an investigative team of emerging young leaders in the Santa Fe Community to spend ten months researching issues facing the community and create actionable recommendations.

Invited from diverse backgrounds, interests and occupations, the inaugural 'class' has a common goal of improving the Santa Fe community and bringing serious issues to light with recommendations for addressing them. The 2004-2005 class of thirty-somethings consists of six emerging leaders: Carl Condit, Gregory Dye, Stephen Guerin, Samsunshine Levy, Chris Lopez and Virginia Padilla.

In September 2004, the team initiated research into areas including Community Services, Education, Legal and Police, Economics, Non-Profits, Politics and the Multi-Cultural Community. Having met with over one hundred people, leaders and organizations in Santa Fe, the team is identifying top issues that affect all members of the community. Under the guidance of Santa Fe Future Chairman Rick Sanders, board members of SFEDI have served to guide the team in definitions of leadership, their investigative process and to monitor the team's progress at monthly meetings.

In June 2005 will be a graduation ceremony for this year's Santa Fe Future leadership participants at which the team will present both their findings in the form of a whitepaper, as well as present "Awards From The Future," to organizations and individuals setting best-practice examples of leadership for the future.

Applications are being accepted for next year's Santa Fe Future class from among Northern New Mexico residents. Applications will be reviewed and interviews scheduled in August 2005, and the next class will begin in September 2005. Those interested in participating in this community leadership program should send a cover letter and resume to: Santa Fe Future Applications, PO Box 8184, Santa Fe, New Mexico 87504-8184 or by email to sfedi@sfedi.org with the subject of "Santa Fe Future Application"
