New York, NY (PRWEB) February 10, 2005 -- DogFriendly.com (http://www.dogfriendly.com) announces its list of the top ten things to do in and about New York City this week with your dog even if your pooch is not entered in the big dog show. The following places welcome your well-behaved dog of any size.

10. Get around New York City with ease by calling the Pet Taxi or the Pet Chauffeur, both of which specialize in transporting people and their pooches around town.

9. For dog cookies or cute dog clothes visit Downtown Doghouse on 18th Street or try one of the many Petco stores throughout New York City.

8. Catch one of New York's famous Horse and Carriage Rides with your pup. Flag one down at 5th Avenue and 59th Street at Central Park.

7. While there are many outdoor restaurants in the city that allow dogs, it may not be warm enough to dine al fresco. Instead order room service from the comfort of your own dog-friendly hotel room or stop at a street vendor.

6. Work off lunch by strolling through Central Park with your dog. While there, don't miss the statue of Balto, the famous sled dog. Thirsty dogs can drink from one of the many special doggie fountains located throughout the park.

5. Need to do some shopping? Maybe stop at Bloomingdales, with your pooch by your side, at 59th and Lexington for the latest fashions. Want to shop some more? Try the following dog-friendly stores - Saks Fifth Avenue, Tiffanys, Restoration Hardware or Banana Republic.

4. Take a walking tour of New York City with your pooch, led by Tawny, the Golden Retriever of Zuckerman Travel and Leisure.

3. How about a visit to the William Secord Art Gallery with your pup? This gallery on the upper east side specializes in 19th century dog paintings and welcomes your dog.

2. Is all this too much for one day? Try a relaxing pet-friendly stay at the Trump International Hotel and Tower (for small dogs), or for larger dogs spend the night at the Loew's Regency Hotel or one of Starwood's W hotels. The Regency can even arrange for a pet sitter in your room if you want to catch a peek of the Westminster show.

1. If the weather outside is too chilly, let DogFriendly.com's complimentary online I-95 Highway Guide help you and your dog head south to Florida.

DogFriendly.com, founded in 1998, offers a free web site of dog-friendly places and publishes paperback books including 'DogFriendly.com's United States and Canada Dog Travel Guide'. The books are available at a bookstore near you or online at http://www.dogfriendly.com.
