FDA Postpones Decision for Second Time On Lycopene and Cancer Health Claim Petition
The FDA has once again postponed its decision regarding pending health claim petitions due to lack of agency resources. Unfortunately, by delaying this process millions of people suffer by not learning the important health benefits of certain dietary supplements, such as Lycopene.
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) February 12, 2005 -- The FDA will not issue its decision on the pending American Longevity lycopene/cancer health claim petition until April 12, 2005. This is the second extension for this petition requested by the agency. The FDA was supposed to issue its decision on December 24, 2004 then extended its deadline until February 11, 2005. In recent months the agency has asked for extensions in its review of seven other pending qualified health claim petitions citing a lack of agency resources.
Obviously, we are disappointed that there has been another delay in getting this important health information out to the general public," states Steve Wallach of American Longevity. However, we look forward to getting approval on this lycopene/cancer health claim petition in April."
