Irish Game Publicises Idol Theft

Web guru TigerTom releases a freeware 2D shooter for the PC. The game publicizes the actual theft of an ancient Irish artifact called a 'Sheela Na Gig', from Tipperary in Ireland.

London, UK (PRWEB) February 15, 2005 -- Web guru TigerTom announced the release of a freeware game. It's called 'TigerTom's Tipperary Showdown' http://www.tigertom.com/free-online-game.shtml. The game is a 2D first-person shooter set in County Tipperary in the Republic Of Ireland.

"I like shoot-em-ups and wanted to make a game to publicize TigerTom.Com. Then I thought about where it should be set. As a native of Tipperary, the rest followed naturally", he said.

"The premisis of the game is that the theft of the Sheela-na-Gig causes an alien invasion".

The 'Sheela-na-Gig' is a real artefact, which was stolen from Kiltinan Church, Fethard, County Tipperary, Ireland in 1990. Fethard is the best example of an Irish medieval town left intact. Kiltinan Church is sited on land owned by Andrew Lloyd Webber, author of the musicals 'Jesus Christ Superstar', and 'Cats'.

"Like the looting of Babylonian treasures in Iraq, removing ancient artifacts from their surroundings lessens their meaning. Someone, somewhere, maybe a wealthy American of Irish descent, has this artifact in their dining room. It doesn't belong there."

TigerTom said: "The game contains the original 'wanted' poster issued at the time of the theft. Our Sheela-Na-Gig in unique. Hopefully this game will help find it."

'TigerTom's Tipperary Showdown' is available free from http://www.tigertom.com/free-online-game.shtml, for PCs running Windows 95/98/Me/XP.
