I admit I was hesitant to embrace a novel from a first time author, but "How the Gallant Fell," Volume I of the Anderson Chronicles is an exceptional first work by a young Attorney in Hickory, NC. I am a Civil War and NC history enthusiast and so loved the book for its accurate and vivid portrayal of the actual first company of young men from Catawba County, NC to enter the Civil War. My wife and countless friends, however, loved the book because it is a movie in written form. Instantly you will fall in love with the five young brohters that make up the Anderson Family.
This book has murder, love affairs, battles, assasinations, mystery, tactics, history, brotherhood, and family bond rolled into its' densely well-written pages. I would very much like to see wha others think of this work. I have emailed the author through his website at publishedauthors.net/wesbarkley and have been pleased to have one on one response concerning the novel. I guarentee if you go online and purchase Mr. Barkley's new novel you will not be dissapointed. Thanks for reading.
