Texas Publishing Company Moves to Michigan's Upper Peninsula

Slipdown Mountain Publications LLC has relocated from North Texas to Michigans Upper Peninsula, ending a 25-year quest to return to his home state for publisher Walt Shiel, a Michigan native and Michigan State University graduate.

Lake Linden, MI (PRWEB) February 14, 2005 -- Last November, Slipdown Mountain Publications LLC packed up and, with winter looming over the Lake Superior horizon, relocated from warm North Texas to Michigans Keweenaw Peninsula and is now back in full business operation.

The move ends a 25-year quest to return to his home state for publisher Walt Shiel, a Michigan native and Michigan State University graduate. To get Shiels tongue-in-cheek explanation for the relocation request his free Top Ten Reasons I Traded Texas for the UP" by emailing Books@SlipdownMountain.com with Ten Reasons" in the subject line or by faxing your request (toll-free) to 866-686-6706 with your name and return fax number or mailing address.

Shiel established Slipdown Mountain Publications in August 2003 near Slipdown Mountain, the highest point in Parker County, Texas, and decided to retain the name after the relocation. (Besides, he notes, the UP actually has full-fledged mountains, unlike North Texas where you have to look very closely to find the speed bumps that the local residents refer to as mountains.) As of January 1st, the company became a registered Michigan limited liability company-Slipdown Mountain Publications LLC.

The company currently distributes the popular aviation history book "Cessna Warbirds: A Detailed and Personal History of Cessnas Involvement in the Armed Forces" and "The Hunt for Bigfoot: A Novel" (Book One in the Human Origins Series) that weaves Bigfoot sightings, extraterrestrial visitors, and ancient mysteries with murder, intrigue, and romance to create a unique thriller set in northern Michigan. The Human Origins Series offers new answers to humanitys oldest questions: Where did we come from? Who were our true ancestors?

In May, Slipdown Mountain will release "Devil in the North Woods," an historical novel about the October 1908 Metz, Michigan, wildfire that destroyed two million acres northwest of Alpena, killed 43 people, and left 4,600 homeless. Advance reading copies are available now to qualified reviewers who contact Walt Shiel by phone at 906-523-6105, toll-free fax at 866-686-6706, or email at Books@SlipdownMountain.com.
