On Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, Star Trek fans worldwide will run a full-page advertisement in Section A of the Los Angeles Times with a campaign slogan entitled ÂSave Star Trek.Â
After UPN announced the cancellation of Star Trek Enterprise during its fourth season, fans of the prequel series to the original Star Trek. under the auspices of SaveEnterprise.com and The Enterprise Project, launched a joint campaign and collected funds through the websites SaveEnterprise.com and EnterpriseFans.com to purchase the ad.
The ad invites fellow supporters of the 39-year-old franchise to attend a rally outside Paramount Studios on Friday, Feb. 25 at 9 a.m. and demonstrate to executives there is still [great] support and enthusiasm for the fifth spin-off series.
Printed cutouts at the bottom of the ad also urge fans to mail-in further support of the television series to Leslie Moonves, Co-President & Co-COO of Viacom, David Stapf, President of Paramount Television and Bonnie Hammer, Executive Vice-President of the Sci-Fi Channel.
Paramount, a subsidiary of Viacom, currently produces Enterprise and fans are pushing the Sci-Fi Channel to pick up the series for a fifth season and beyond.
Tim Brazeal, founder of SaveEnterprise.com, has promises from hundreds of fans to attend the rally and expects the advertisement will reach thousands more.
The Los Angeles Times currently has a daily circulation of over 900,000 readers.
