Phil Mickelson, the 2004 Masters Champion, Announced Today That He Will Be Playing This PGA TOUR Season on Behalf of Homes for Our Troops
The Massachusetts-based organization (homesforourtroops.org) adapts or builds new homes for accessibility for servicemen and women returning to America with serious injuries and disabilities.
(PRWEB) February 16, 2005 -- Mickelson will donate $100 for each birdie and $500 for each eagle he makes on Tour this season. Homes for Our Troops is developing a fundraising drive that will extend from grassroots support to corporate boardrooms. Already the Palencia Club in St. Augustine, Fla., is hoping to plan a year-long pledge drive to match or exceed Mickelsons contribution and is extending the challenge to other area clubs.

The men and women of our military make great sacrifices to keep America safe and one of our goals is to make sure they are not forgotten," said Gonsalves, whose organization was lauded by President Bush in his speech to Marines at Camp Pendleton in November. With Phil leading the way we know awareness of the cause will be raised and a great number of American heroes will be able to get the help they need and deserve."
Family is the number one priority for Amy and me," said Mickelson. I am honored to assist Homes for Our Troops with their efforts in meeting the housing needs of our servicemen and women who have given so much for our country."
Homes for Our Troops is hoping to raise $1,000,000 through the "Birdies For The Brave" with help from Phil Mickelson and golf related businesses throughout the country.
