Siemens Ltd. Receives Frost & Sullivan Award

Frost & Sullivan research on Enterprise Telephony indicates that Siemens has exhibited an exemplary performance with one of the largest market share gains in the key telephone systems (KTS) segment. Frost & Sullivan recognized this excellent performance and honored Siemens with Frost & Sullivan award for Market Leadership in the KTS segment for 2003-04.

The change in economic fundamentals in India has been exerting a powerful influence on the enterprise telephony market. Since voice equipment addresses the needs of all sections of the economy, the growth in the voice telephony market has been observed to have a close correlation with the growth of economy in general. Moreover, the growth in employment in segments such as manufacturing, finance, banking, contact centers, and software outsourcing firms has led to a proportionate increase in investments in voice equipment.

As a solution, many managers are looking at IP telephony, as a way to help them reduce rising administrative expenses, extend business reach, boost productivity, and realize measurable returns on their infrastructure investments. The only restraint that is likely to check the market growth is the government regulation that prevents users from employing IP telephony beyond a closed user group.

The Enterprise Telephony market can be segmented as follows:

The Key Telephone System (KTS) market in 2003-04 was worth $14.8 million. The market grew by 41.0 percent over 2002-03. The KTS segment is grabbing the lower-end segment of the PBX market and that is where the maximum growth is happening by volumes. The KTS market is likely to continue to see opportunities from offices with less than 50 employees, and also see demand from the small and home office business (SOHO) sector of less than 15 people. “Siemens’s well-recognized products along with its distribution strengths across the length and breadth of India have been the hallmark of this success,” says Cecilia Chang, Director of Technology Practice, Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific.

Comments Mr. Peter Gartenberg, Executive Vice President, Communications Enterprise Networks, Siemens Ltd., "We are delighted to receive this recognition. Our HiPath KTS range is number 1 globally and now Number 1 in India as well. To further extend our leadership in this segment we are announcing today the launch of the HiPath 1100 family of KTS' for the SOHO and SME segments. The HiPath 1100 offers superior technology and features at highly affordable prices. We are confident that with the HiPath 1100 we will further strengthen our dominance in the fastest growing segment of the market."
