Frost & Sullivan research on Enterprise Telephony indicates that Siemens has exhibited an exemplary performance with one of the largest market share gains in the key telephone systems (KTS) segment. Frost & Sullivan recognized this excellent performance and honored Siemens with Frost & Sullivan award for Market Leadership in the KTS segment for 2003-04.

The change in economic fundamentals in India has been exerting a powerful influence on the enterprise telephony market. Since voice equipment addresses the needs of all sections of the economy, the growth in the voice telephony market has been observed to have a close correlation with the growth of economy in general. Moreover, the growth in employment in segments such as manufacturing, finance, banking, contact centers, and software outsourcing firms has led to a proportionate increase in investments in voice equipment.

As a solution, many managers are looking at IP telephony, as a way to help them reduce rising administrative expenses, extend business reach, boost productivity, and realize measurable returns on their infrastructure investments. The only restraint that is likely to check the market growth is the government regulation that prevents users from employing IP telephony beyond a closed user group.

The Key Telephone System (KTS) market in 2003-04 was worth $14.8 million. The market grew by 41.0 percent over 2002-03. The KTS segment is grabbing the lower-end segment of the PBX market and that is where the maximum growth is happening by volumes.
